This year, perhaps more than ever, several marquee names in the NFL are in a position to be moved in the offseason—for a variety of reasons.
Terrell Owens has worn out his welcome in Dallas; Nnamdi Asomugha simply deserves a better fate than languishing in Oakland for another year; Matt Cassel has earned a shot at a starting job somewhere; Reggie Bush may need a fresh start.
Here are five trades I'd like to see this offseason.
In the fifth installment of our position-by-position look at the best eligible players not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, we are looking at the position that has sent more than twice as many ...
This a follow-up to "Preseason Picks for NFL All-Pro: NFC, Pt. 1", which focused on my predictions for the best offensive players in the NFC for 2009. If you have not read my offensive picks yet, here is the link: http://bleacherreport...
If you can have a fantasy draft of your own NFL team, who would you pick? There are no other people drafting against you, so you are free to choose the best of the best...
I tell ya, I only agree with the last one. DA would fit well in KC b/c they are re-building. I don't think Bush needs a fresh start, they love him in that city and he fits well in that offense if Sean would use him right.
The Cards would be stupid to get rid of Boldin b/c he hasn't even reached his prime. I would love for T.O. to go b/c he THINKS that he makes that offense go. But its b/c of him that the Cowboys offense struggled at times. Roy Williams is a TBD b/c he hasn't had a full season yet. And trading Roy for Chad is just like getting another T.O.
We do need another corner to play opposite Newman, but I believe that Jerry is done trading. We have lock Ware down b4 we do anything else.
Lol, wow man you must live in a fantasy world. None of these trades are ever going to happen.
1. Nnamdi is going to either get franchised (most likely) or the Raiders will franchise him.
2. TO is going to get cut and there is no way tyat the Raiders would pick him up.
3. Cassel will probably get franchised as well this year and that will cost teams interested in him too much to get him. In 2010 he may end up somewhere else, but not next year.
4. The brass in KC loves Thigpen and I think that he will actually turn into a good starter next year.
You have some good ideas but unfortunately, this is the NFL and trades just don't happen as frequently as they do in the other major sports leagues.
todd u must be in a fantasy league my friend. none of this stuff will EVER happen. the cowboys are probably through with t.o. and who else would want his bitch ass? he ain't worth the headache! the corner in oakland will definetely be franchised, because the raiders have no one else worth holding but him. chad johnson in dallas? yeah, right! no one wants him but the bengals.the chiefs will probably let johnson go and do something on his own. and the big surprise....cassel will be the qb for the pats next season. WATCH!
LenDale White would NOT get more carries in NE.
This year should have proved to Bill Belichick (it did to me) that a commitee RB system is the best approach. We had 3-4 RBs that we used regularly this year (Faulk, Morris, Green-Ellis, Jordan) they gained more yards than a Pats team has gained in alomost 2 decades I believe.....they actually ranked 6TH IN THE NFL in rushing, right above.....you guessed it, the Tennesse Titans.
The fact is this year should prove that the star RB is not the best idea. How many star RBs stayed on the field this year? Peterson, Barber, Portis, Gore, LT, Westbrook, Bush all missed time or were seriously hampered by injuries. Our own backfield suffered plenty, but kept on rolling due to quality depth and coaching. We actually picked up steam in december when it counted, as some of the other backs got healthy (L.Jordan)
I aggree with you that Maroney hasnt panned out as planned, and I do believe the Pats could use another RB to add to the depth, but I also think Maroney healthy could be that guy next year. While he doesnt seem to be a good #1 RB, he does seem to be a guy that will be a great fit in the 1,2,3,4,5 punch system we have. Each RB is a different runner, and the fans think the running game went downhill because Maroney is the flashy guy, so when he left, so did the flashy plays. The other guys are tough, grind it out type runners. I like our running game, and personally, think trading Cassel for anything less than a first round draft pick plus some second day picks would be a rip-off. Without a doubt, trading Cassel for Lendale White would be the ultimate rip-off of the century.
1.How would an under-performing Larry Johnson be an upgrade to an under-performing Jamal Lewis?
2. Why would Dallas trade away TO and then go after his twin Ocho?
3. Why would Cinci give up Ocho AND a draft pick for Roy Williams?
4. Why would Tennessee give up their Two-headed monster of a running game when they have no receivers to throw to?
5. By the time the Pats know if Brady is healthy enough to play next year, it will be too deep into pre-season training for them to get anything of value out of trading Cassel. Most teams (except the Jets) don't like to throw players into important roles without having a chance to learn the offense first.
6. Why would anyone who knows anything about football think these trades would ever happen?
