A seductive nature, risque tendencies, an affinity for a two-piece...The qualities of a star sports beauty.
But while posing endlessly comes with the territory of being a hottie in the athletic realm, there are those who take their sexiness a step further, to a more sandy, sun-covered domain.
Swimsuit photo shoots have always dominated the sports world, as beautiful models, athletes and WAGs have scratched and clawed for that extra bit of attention. And thankfully, times aren't close to changing.
While Sports Illustrated may host the best swimsuit talents, there are other sports beauties who also shined on the beach.
Let's take a look at the 50 hottest swimsuit models in sports today.
Grab that sunscreen, the heat can get intense.
50. Larissa Riquelme
After she rose to prominence during the 2010 FIFA World Cup by storing a Nokia cell phone in her frontal gap and cheering like a crazed baboon, it became clear that Paraguayan model Larissa Riquelme would do anything for an extra bit of attention.
We'd love to see what she has in store for a private camera crew on the beach.
49. Kelly Brook
Sure she's been dating former Scottish international rugby union player Thom Evans since 2010, but that's not what has us captivated.
Considering she dated Jason Statham for seven years (until 2004), English model Kelly Brook must be bad to the bone.
Chuck Norris has nothing on The Transporter.
48. Bruna Schmitz
Don't let her name fool you, Brazilian surfer Bruna Schmitz most likely doesn't have a special meatball recipe that she introduces on the Food Network every Thursday.
However, when it comes to looking good and dominating waves, few do it better.
47. Ines Sainz
While she's certainly modified her wardrobe as of late, there was a time when Ines Sainz went with the motto "less is more."
The Azteca Deportes reporter never lacked an eager throng of cameras ready to pounce on a pose.
46. Elsa Benitez
We don't forget beauty, and we surely won't dismiss Mexican model Elsa Benitez after her performance on the cover of the 2001 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
She cannot be stopped on camera.
45. Laura Cavender
The Lingerie Football League is a dangerous place, featuring hard hits, seductive stares and unholy photo shoots.
Pigskin and women, it doesn't quite get any better.
44. Aida Yespica
Having a son with footballer Matteo Ferrari locked Venezuelan model Aida Yespica into the sports world for good, and we're quite appreciative.
She's clearly focused on a sexy future.
43. Melanie Collins
When she's not interviewing athletes or putting NHL boyfriend Scottie Upshall to bed, sexy reporter Melanie Collins is seemingly improving her portfolio.
All she needs is a body of water, a camera and security.
42. Maria Kirilenko
It's not very often that we can say an expression is unique, but as we applaud Maria Kirilenko's modeling ability, it becomes clear that few women look happier at the beach.
Although, now that she's dating hockey icon Alexander Ovechkin (who doubles as a rapper), Kirilenko likely doesn't have to ever pick up a racket again.
41. Shannan Click
Sure she's been in Sports Illustrated, but that's not what forces us to click on Shannan Click's pictures.
Few attack the camera with as much aggression as this fervent beauty.
40. Malia Jones
Sprinkled with Hawaiian, Spanish-Filipino, German and English descent, beautiful surfer Malia Jones gives the swimsuit scene a new flavor that we're excited to try.
Our pallets are tingling.
39. Maria Sharapova
Aside from her stellar work in the 2006 Valentine's Day issue of the Sports Illustrated, former World No. 1 tennis beauty Maria Sharapova may feel left out of the modeling world in regards to a stacked resume, but we still embrace her passion.
Sharapova has a unique feel for the camera that we can't ignore.
38. Izabel Goulart
A rising star in the swimsuit business, Brazilian model Izabel Goulart appeared in Sports Illustrated last year, forcing us to remember her name.
She adds a unique flavor to the sports world that few possess.
37. Kim Glass
While she's obviously experienced, it's Kim Glass' height that has us inspired.
Hovering around 6'3", the volleyball star literally towers over her competition.
36. Chrissy Teigen
As the precisely-placed sand shows us, gravity clearly ceases to exist when Chrissy Teigen is being filmed.
Whenever she gets nervous, all Teigen has to do is sing one of her fiance's numerous hits.
John Legend's "Everybody Knows" usually calms the nerves.
35. Anastasia Ashley
We honestly can never get enough of these surfing babes, and Anastasia Ashley is just another California beauty yearning for a chance to shine.
And she always does.
34. Veronica Varekova
Perhaps the most established beauty on this list, Czech model Veronica Varekova appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 1999 to 2002 and 2004 to 2007, with a spot on the '04 cover.
Every team needs a crafty veteran, and Varekova will certainly be a positive influence on young models finding their niche.
We're pleased to have her aboard.
33. Gisele Bundchen
Few women attract more attention on sandy terrains than this sexy NFL WAG.
Sure Tom Brady and his butter-fingered crew just lost the Super Bowl, but at least they've got this Brazilian model wife to hog the spotlight.
She seems pleased to be of service.
32. Kristi Leskinen
Snow can't stop freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen from sporting sexy beach attire.
Considering she was the first woman to complete a rodeo-720, we'd expect nothing less.
31. Kenza Fourati
When she appeared in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and became the first Arab model to pose for the publication, we were in awe with the Kenza Fourati's ability to change things up.
The French-born Tunisian model is only on the cusp of beautiful stardom.
30. Selita Ebanks
Ok, so maybe she only appeared in the 2007 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but Selita Ebanks has been around the sports world for quite a bit and looks amazing in a two-piece.
The Cayman Island-born model has been mentioned with Osi Umenyiora and Ryan Howard, yet it's her beach outings that keep us interested.
29. Alyssa Miller
With her exotic nature and flair for the tribal look, Alyssa Miller is quickly garnering a loyal fanbase.
Her appearance in last year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue was just icing on the cake.
28. Damaris Lewis
While most of us know her for witnessing Kate Upton's intriguing "Dougie" rendition first hand, Damaris Lewis is building quite the reputation on her own.
The Brooklyn-bred model appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 2009-2011 and continues to shock us with her exotic flow.
Despite her initials, Lewis isn't keeping her beauty on the down low.
27. Anna Kournikova
Sure she's been around for awhile, but Russian sensation Anna Kournikova has never stopped looking good.
Her lack of tennis accolades means nothing with camera work like this.
26. Julie Henderson
From 2007 to 2010, Julie Henderson was a mainstay in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Since then she's tried being a WAG (Aaron Rodgers), attempted the commercial industry and added to her photographic resume with sexy beach shots.
All we can ever concentrate on is connecting the freckles on her face.
25. Niki Gudex
Whether it's her magnetic eyes or stunning figure that grabs our attention, at least we know we're intrigued.
Australian biker Niki Gudex continues to increase her sport's fanship exponentially.
24. Hilary Rhoda
While her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 2009 to 2011 certainly got us yearning for more, it was Hilary Rhoda's rumored fling with Mark Sanchez that brought her deeper into the sports world.
Other than that, she's just another seductive being who likes the beach.
23. Jessica White
Having appeared in every Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue from 2004 to 2011 (except the 2006 edition), Jessica White is obviously experienced.
It's easy to see why she loves the beach so much, considering White hails from frigid Buffalo, New York.
22. Irina Shayk
Sure she was on the cover of the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, but it's Irina Shayk's consistency that has us in awe.
Having appeared in the magazine since 2007, it's easy to see why football Casanova Cristiano Ronaldo is sticking around for this one.
21. Misa Campo
While repping a Canucks and Candiens jersey makes sense given her Canadian upbringing, we're still a bit baffled with her fashioning of a Chargers jersey, although she looks brilliant either way.
Team loyalty may be the strongest connection to the sports world for model Misa Campo, but she seems eager to become a larger part of the athletic domain.
We believe she's got what it takes.
20. Genevieve Morton
Since making her Sports Illustrated debut in 2010, South African looker Genevieve Morton has become a crucial part of the Swimsuit Issue.
Her engaging, sky-blue eyes, Mona Lisa-esque smile and focused stare present a sexy mystery that we're eager to learn more about.
19. Ana Ivanovic
Oh we love Ana Ivanovic's aggressiveness on-and-off the court.
The former World No. 1 Serbian tennis player clearly dominates with the racket (307 career singles wins), but it's her confident aura on camera that has us nodding with approval.
Her natural ability can't be stifled.
18. Jessica Gomes
The most exhilarating aspect of Jessica Gomes' nature is her diverse background.
While from Australia, Gomes is of Singaporean-Chinese and Portuguese heritage. Let's digest that for a second...
Exotic perfection.
17. Leryn Franco
Few realize that this established on-camera beauty is actually an athlete, specializing in the javelin throw no less.
After Leryn Franco's appearance in last year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, it was clear the Paraguayan sensation was prioritizing.
16. Sara Tommasi
Like any self-respecting former soccer WAG, Sara Tommasi has posed for the camera more than several times.
Yet there's something about the beautiful Italian model that has us curious for more.
Her open-mouthed stare reeks of a bored state that only serial WAGing can cure.
15. Ashton Torres
Few are familiar with the stealthy ability of Dallas cheerleader Ashton Torres.
With a tendency to add her own distinct flavor to photo shoots, this Cowboys sideline girl seems destined for greatness.
Perhaps the gridiron should consider a new dress code for cheer squads.
14. Adriana Lima
So she may not technically be a professional WAG anymore, considering Marko Jaric is now balling somewhere in Serbia, but Brazilian beauty Adriana Lima has been lighting up the sports scene for awhile.
The Victoria's Secret Angel seemingly made a comeback, when several sexy commercials featuring Lima were shown during the Super Bowl.
Today redemption is spelled A-D-R-I-A-N-A.
13. Marisa Miller
Naturally perfect and eager to shine, Marisa Miller is a master of her craft.
All she has to do is show up and turn her head slightly in one direction.
Modeling 101.
12. Michelle Waterson
Exotic beauty, a fearless stare, breathtaking persuasiveness...the ultimate fighter.
Referred to as "The Karate Hottie," MMA star Michelle Waterson seems like a perfect fit for the role of The Karate Kid 2: Lethally Pink.
Someone give Martin Scorsese a call.
11. Stacy Keibler
She may not fit the prototypical wrestler type, but Stacy Keibler has made a living from long legs and fearless approaches.
If her work on camera is any indication, Keibler is not to be messed with.
Only looked at.
10. Alana Blanchard
We love surfing chicks, and among the collection of sexy beach bums roaming the planet is one who reigns supreme.
Alana Blanchard can't seem to get enough of the sand, and we can't get enough of her California lifestyle.
9. Anne Vyalitsyna
Like Pauly D or Juicy J, Russian model Anne Vyalitsyna is referred to solely as Anne V.
Considering she's appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue since 2005, we'd like to believe she's a bit more deserving of such a moniker than her humorously-named peers.
8. Esti Ginzburg
Sure she's breathtaking in front of a pair of lens, but it's Israeli model Esti Ginzburg's army tenure in 2009 that still has us scraping our jaws off the floor.
While it's part of Israeli culture for 18-year-olds to be drafted into the army, we respect Ginzburg's diehard loyalty.
We're glad to have her back.
7. Brooklyn Decker
Someone has to keep neurotic Andy Roddick tame, and nobody seems more qualified than Brooklyn Decker.
She is a double-decker skyscraper among a collection of brownstones.
6. Kate Upton
Ah the beautiful cover model of this year's Sports Illustrated issue...But let's not forget Kate Upton's memorable appearance on last season's edition, when she won Rookie of the Year.
Upton's iconic beauty mark, ridiculous inability to deny a relationship with Mark Sanchez and sexy figure continue to cement her name in the record books.
5. Noemie Lenoir
Fearless, graceful and confident is this French sensation.
With an affinity for the mysterious and exotic Kodak moment, we can't possibly take our eyes off of this beautiful creature...
We're speaking about the cheetah of course, we're unsure of who that woman is ruining the picture.
4. Abbey Clancy
Quite possibly the sexiest soccer WAG known to man, English model Abbey Clancy has a breathtaking ability to please the crowd that never ceases to amaze us.
Her relationship with lanky adulterer Peter Crouch, however, never fails to perplex us.
3. Mercedes Terrell
For those of you unfamiliar with Mercedes Terrell, she is a smoking hot rebel from the UFC who continues to uncontrollably steal the spotlight from fighters.
Like her name insinuates, Terrell is a new brand of vehicle, a look into the future of beauty.
2. Bar Refaeli
After becoming the first Israeli model to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (2007), Bar Refaeli seemingly had her sights set on her next endeavor.
Acquiring the cover spot of the 2009 edition was a step in the right direction.
1. Arianny Celeste
A personal favorite perhaps, molds were broken and records shattered in the creation of Arianny Celeste.
There are few magazines this sexy ring girl hasn't posed for, as well as few poses that don't cause a frenzy.
She is perfection.
