Johan Cruyff (who is one of the living legends of Barca) declared that he is confident Pep Guardiola will renew with FC Barcelona. Cruyff went further to say that Guardiola will not leave unless he discusses his future.

Cruyff made his statements in an interview with EFE (the Spanish News Agency) and they were published at ESPN Soccernet. Cruyff based his comments about Guardiola on the loyalty that the latter has to La Blaugrana.

It is refreshing to know that Cruyff has expressed his confidence in Guardiola. While Guardiola renews his contract on an annual basis, this appears to be an annual charade which does not help Barca.

Last year, Cruyff said that Guardiola would leave after the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester United. The comments were published in The Guardian on May 27, 2011.

The current La Liga tables as published by ESPN Soccernet shows FC Barcelona in second place with 51 points. Real Madrid is in first place with 61 points and Valencia in third with 40 points.

La Blaugrana must get its act together by attempting to win the majority of its matches like it did with Valencia. Guardiola should also get his act together and decide on his future for the benefit of Barca.
