There is a new name popping up on the radar as the Cleveland Browns search for a new general manager—current Philadelphia Eagles GM Tom Heckert.

Adam Schefter from NFL.com reported today that the Browns have asked the Eagles' permission to talk to Heckert.

Heckert does have some ties with the Browns, as his dad was a scout for them during his 20 years in the NFL personnel ranks.

The interview comes as it is appearing more and more that the possible union between Pats VP of player personnel Scott Pioli and the Browns seems to be over.

Word is that Pioli and the Browns simply could not come to terms on a deal, and Pioli interviewed Monday with the Chiefs. The Browns also wanted to talk to Ravens director of pro personnel George Kokinis, but will have to wait till the Ravens' playoffs are over to speak to him.
