Phoenix - The Brewers figure they got much better defensively in the off-season by dumping last season’s shortstop, Yuniesky Betancourt, in favor of Alex Gonzalez.
They also look to have solidified themselves behind Gonzalez with the arrival of Cesar Izturis. A Gold Glove winner with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2004, Izturis is in camp with the Brewers on a minor-league deal that could net him a roster spot.
