As the card for WrestleMania 28 fills with some great matches this April, how about the idea of adding a match between the current Diva's Champion, Beth Phoenix, and arguably the greatest diva in WWE history, Trish Stratus?
Stratus and Phoenix have been going back and forth in the past few weeks on Twitter, sparking interest by the fans for the two divas to have a match in Miami.
In the recent interview with SportsVibe.uk, the former diva Stratus said this about the potential WrestleMania showdown with the current Diva's Champion:
Beth was saying that she was the most dominant champion, so I thought I would just let her know that title is already taken. As for a match between Beth and myself at WrestleMania that is an excellent proposition and I think the fans would love that. I've actually had the opportunity to tangle up with Beth Phoenix a couple of times and I think that she is amazing in the ring and I would love to kick her ass actually.
With this year’s WrestleMania shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory, I think the idea of bringing in Trish to battle with Beth Phoenix would be an awesome match for the event on April 1.
During her career in the WWE, Stratus won the Women’s Championship a record seven times in addition to being named the Diva of the Decade by the WWE.
For Phoenix, the Glamazon was a three time Women’s Champion before the title was retired, along with being the reigning Diva’s Champion since winning the title from Kelly Kelly at Hell in a Cell 2011.
Just like the Rock/John Cena match at this year’s WrestleMania, I can see a Stratus/Phoenix match being a diva counterpart as a battle between two generations at the event this April.
While that last remark might be a little over the top, I think it would help a diva’s division that has become incredibly stale and thin over the past several months.
So Bleachers, who would be excited to see Trish Stratus return to the ring this April and take on the dominant Diva’s Champion, Beth Phoenix, in a match at WrestleMania?
