Shaun Livingston Released by Heat
When the season began, I wrote an article on how pleased I was to see Shaun Livingston back on an NBA team after his horrific knee injury back in 2007. Feel free to go to the link to check out the video of the knee injury. I dare you.
His comeback was short lived as the Miami Heat released Livingston last night.
Livingston only appeared in four games this season and the move, apparently, was to save on the luxury tax as NBA contracts will be guaranteed for a full season by the end of the week.
However, I would not be surprised to see the Heat use the available roster spot to sign veteran Alonzo Mourning, who is still recovering from his own knee injury in December of 2007.
Lets be honest, you have to feel for Shaun. The kid has fought so hard to comeback from one of the more gruesome injuries we have seen in sports in sometime—seriously watch the video again.
Not only was he able to play at a high level of basketball again, but, he actually made it all the way back to the league. I sincerely hope he keeps the fight in him and sticks with a new team in the near future.
Shaun, good luck to you!
