Ted Roof The Top Choice As Defensive Coordinator For Auburn Tigers

Auburn, AL—According to reports out of Auburn, former Duke head coach Ted Roof has agreed to leave Minnesota after one season to join Gene Chizik’s staff as defensive coordinator.

More on the Roof:

He's Chizik's sixth assistant coach hire, the second on defense.

Roof was Georgia Tech's defensive coordinator from 1999-2001, and was nominated for the Frank Broyles Award, which goes annually to the nation's top assistant, in 2000.

This is a good hire for Chizik, as many felt that Chizik will concentrate more toward defense. This will allow him to do that, while removing some of the burden.
