After winning my only play yesterday, I'm trying to start a hot streak by taking three games today.
Two of my plays come from the Big East. I like UConn +3 at West Virginia. That's right, I'm backing an underdog! Both of these teams have what it takes for a serious Tourney run, but most agree that UConn is the more talented team. I don't see them dropping to 1-2 in conference play, and expect a win in a tough road game tonight.
I also like Villanova giving 6.5 at Seton Hall. The Hall has lost both of its conference games by an average of 25 points, including a 26-point loss at home to WVU on Saturday. 'Nova is comparable to the Mounties, so I expect a double-digit victory by the 'Cats.
My play of the day, however, is Purdue -2.5 at Penn State. I actually think this Nittany Lion squad will surprise some people this season (they already have, I suppose, by winning at Georgia Tech). However, in my opinion, the difference in this game will be defense. I look for Chris Kramer to slow down Penn State's Talor Battle, and I see the Boilermakers winning a close, low-scoring affair. Something like 65-60.
So there you have it. I'm taking three road teams, which is always a bit scary, especially in conference play. My goal is to win the Purdue game and then at least one of the Big East games.
Today's Picks: Purdue -2.5; 2 units
UConn +3; 1 unit
Villanova -6.5; 1 unit
Season Record: 27-18 (60 percent); +14.2 units
