Liverpool Transfer Rumours: 6 Playmakers Linked with Summer Move

0 of 7

It has been suggested that Liverpool have looked devoid of attacking ideas from midfield this season, such is the case for their poor league position.

With Steven Gerrard likely down to his final few years as a player on Merseyside, fans are rightly questioning who will replace the Liverpool talisman.

Gerrard is the type of player who comes along once in a generation, and some consider him to be the best Liverpool player of all time, so replacing him is never going to be easy.

That aside, Liverpool do need to start looking for an attacking midfielder who can be the club's driving force for the next six years plus, and here are a few players rumoured to be up to the job.

Eden Hazard

Sorry Liverpool fans, but this players name just won't go away.

Whilst it seems the Lille player may favour a move to Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool still have some negotiating power through the loan deal of Joe Cole.

With Cole unlikely to be a first team player back at Anfield, Dalglish may still look to arrange a player plus cash deal for Hazard, something which would surely favour the French club.

That type of deal was mentioned back in November, and Hazard has confirmed that he has not closed the door on any team as yet.

Gaston Ramirez

As this article identifies, Liverpool were linked with Ramirez throughout the January window only for Dalglish to confirm that there would be no new arrivals.

Summer will undoubtedly be a different story though, and Ramirez could be open to a move throughout Europe due to expressing his likelihood to leave Italy.

Able to play on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, Ramirez is believed to be valued between €15-€20 million.

Esteban Granero

Real Madrid playmaker Esteban Granero has found life at the Bernabeu difficult this season.

The Spanish midfielder was linked with a move to the Reds in January, but a deal was never finalised and the player stayed put.

Liverpool may yet go back to discuss a deal in the summer, but reported a few weeks ago that Granero could yet go to Real Betis.

Lukas Podolski

Technically speaking, a striker, Lukas Podolski is adaptable enough to play on the wing or midfield when required.

The German International has reportedly fallen out with his management due to their failure to uphold promises made to the player when he signed from Bayern Munich.

Currently at Cologne, Podolski has been linked to both Arsenal and Liverpool of late.

Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura is hot property right now, and the Brazilian reportedly has a contract release clause of £80 million.

Crunch Sports are reporting that Real Madrid are now entering the race to sign a player who has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea for some time.

Moura would certainly have fan appeal on Merseyside should he sign in the summer and comes under the "dream buy" category as written about in one of my previous articles.

Ezequiel Lavezzi

Tribal football are reporting that Liverpool may turn to Napoli attacking midfielder Ezequiel Lavezzi as an answer to their problems.

The players agent indicates that there have been discussions held previously and that the Merseyside club may still favour a move for the Argentinean International.

There is no fee mentioned for the player.

A young, yet, highly capable creative midfielder would be perfect for Liverpool in the summer.

It would give the player a couple of years to learn from Steven Gerrard whilst the Englishman could favour a deeper role as he gets older.

Liverpool should have a pretty handsome bank balance in the summer following the announcement of the Premier League's biggest ever kit deal, and fans will be hoping that Kenny Dalglish spends it a little more prudently than he did when putting pen to paper on the Downing and Carroll deals.

Only time will tell whether there are any foundations to these rumours, but I expect a lot more of them to surface before anything is finalised for this club.
