Real Madrid recorded an easy win against the relegation-threatened opposition and are now 13 points clear of their title rivals Barcelona at the top of the league. Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria and a brace from Karim Benzema insured a comfortable 4-0 victory.

As expected, the home team dominated the game.

Ronaldo headed home after just six minutes. The visitors in vain demanded an offside to be called and the celebration started at the Santiago Bernabeu stands.

Just 39 minutes into the game, Racing defender Domingo Cisma was shown a second yellow card and left his team with 10 players on the pitch. The game was already decided.

Los Blancos doubled their lead in the dying moments of the first half through Benzema. A set-piece ball from Xabi Alonso reached Benzema and the Frenchman had no problem clipping the ball over the onrushing Racing goalkeeper.

Substitute Di Maria marked his return from injury with a well taken goal in the 73rd minute. The Argentine cut in form the right wing position and smashed the ball into the far corner.

Benzema completed his brace with his 13th league goal in the season. A rebound from Di Maria's shot found the Frenchman, who once again had no problems finishing. Although the ball rebounded off Bernardo on its way to the goal, Benzema took all the credits.

Los Blancos will now fly to Russia, where they will play CSKA Moscow in the first leg of their last 16 Champions league encounter.
