The action takes place in Corpus Christi, Texas tonight at 10 p.m. EST.
Final Official Scores:
114 - 112, Cloud
115 - 111 Campillo
116 - 110, Cloud
Cloud wins via Split Decision
I'm going to be switching over to the Paul Williams v. Nobuhiro Ishida page. Switch over for the main event.
Campillo says he wants a rematch. That was a no brainer; of course he would.
Cloud says the decision was right. He thinks he was the aggressor and he hurt Cloud. "He couldn't take a punch."
Tavoris Cloud's mother just fainted in the ring. I'm guessing she couldn't believe the her son had won either.
The crowd boo's the decision. Like I said... this is unbelievable.
Official Decision:
115 - 111 Campillo
116 - 110 Cloud
114 - 112 Cloud
I think Campillo won in convincing fashion. But, this is boxing... the scorecards can say anything.
Round 12: Campillo played to the crowd when the last round started, but he seemed to take the final three minutes off. Cloud came forward, but in the end didn't have the energy or power in his punches to win it. But, Cloud won the round on pure activity.
Round 12: Cloud 10 - 9
Cloud is going to need the knockout to keep his title.
Round 11: Campillo throws caution to the wind and invites exchanges with Cloud. Campillo gets hit with a power shot and changes back to the formula he had success with: defensive boxing. This was a tough round, but I think Cloud won it.
Round 11: 10 - 9 Cloud
Cloud tells the doctor "never been better" and is sent back to fight.
Ref stops the fight for the doctor to look at the cut...
Campillo is walking down Cloud!!
Round 10: Campillo's punches still have sting in them. Cloud seems to have lost the power he had when the fight started. Campillo has slowed his punching output, but still wins the round with the cleaner shots and his ability to make Cloud fight his style fight.
Round 10: 10 - 9 Campillo
The championship rounds are coming up. Let's see if Cloud can mount his comeback.
Round 9: This round was an exhibition of why Campillo is winning this fight. He used every inch of the ring, punched first in almost every exchange, and landed beautiful combination punches.
Round 9: 10 - 9 Campillo
You can't say enough of Campillo's use of the ring. He isn't afraid to exchanged with Cloud, but when he feels like things are not going his way, he backs away and just starts boxing.
Round 8: For the first time in the fight, Campillo looked like he could knock Cloud down. Cloud went from being the chaser to the chased. The cut is bothering him, he looks tired, and he can not get inside to make his punching power a factor in the fight.
Round 8: Campillo 10 - 9
Cloud does not look great in the corner. He is breathing out of his mouth and appears tired. He still has a lot of time to land the knockout punch to end it.
Round 7: Campillo opens the round with some power shots. He uses his reach advantage to control the distance between him and Cloud. He is fighting a very smart fight. Campillo is getting more comfortable as we head deeper into the fight.
Round 7: 10 - 9 Campillo
Campillo has not been targeting the cut above Cloud's eye. He really should be trying to open it up more.
Round 6: Campillo has done a good job of keeping his back off the ropes. When Cloud can get Campillo in a corner he uses his ring generalship to turn away from Cloud.
Cloud's corner used too much vaseline to treat his cut. Ref stopped the action to wipe off excess vaseline. Was it an honest mistake or a tactic to give him more time to rest?
Round 5: Campillo is really showing his superior boxing skills. He has hit Cloud with great combinations the entire night and looks to be breaking down his opponent. At this point, it feels as though Cloud is looking for the one punch to send Campillo back to the canvas.
Round 5: 9 - 10 Campillo
