Raymond James Stadium, the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, caught on fire Saturday morning according to Tampa Bay Online.

Several passing motorists called 911 to report that the scoreboard was burning early Saturday morning, said Lt. William Ferguson, spokesman for the Tampa Police Department.

Tampa officers responded and found fire coming from the the speaker system above the north scoreboard, Ferguson said.

Tampa Fire Rescue firefighters put out the fire, which was determined to be caused by an electrical problem, Ferguson said.

Raymond James Stadium, which is called by some Buccaneers fans as "Ray Jay," is not an old building. Construction started in 1996 and the stadium was opened for NFL play on September 20, 1998.

Since the Buccaneers offense was so bad last season, this may be the only way the team will make the scoreboard "light up." Last season, the Buccaneers were 21st in total offense and 27th in points scored per game.

On the bright side, it's better that the scoreboard caught on fire in the offseason rather than during an actual game.
