What Matt Barkley did was no different than what any number of other 21-year-old males would have done: He Tweeted a Valentine’s Day message to his girlfriend, including a picture of the two of them.
Except that he’s Matt Barkley, three-year (going on four) USC starting quarterback and 2012 Heisman Trophy favorite.
The Tweet and picture made their way onto Yahoo! Sports’ Dr. Saturday blog. Then the Yahoo! home page picked up the “story.” It was a reminder that when you’re famous, as Barkley surely is, just about anything you say or do is fodder for websites, blogs and the ever-growing Twitterverse.
