Purdue basketball might have just suffered a huge blow to its momentum, as it is being reported that junior guard D.J. Byrd was arrested last night.

He was arrested for public intoxication.

With Matt Painter's recent policy on things of this nature, Byrd could very well not be available against Michigan State.

This could not have come at a worse time for Purdue.

Since the Ohio State game, Byrd has been the momentum maker for this team. He had two straight games of 20 points or more and is coming off a 12-point second-half performance against Illinois.

In a season where Purdue has struggled to get it going, it looks like this is going to kill the momentum.

This team was finally starting to get it all together, and with Byrd's stark shooting from beyond the arc the last three games, it was able to win a few.

As of right now, we don't know exactly what D.J. Byrd did, but he is going to have a lot of explaining to do to his teammates after this incident of stupidity.

This is now the second season in a row that something dumb has happened on this team, following Kelsey Barlow's suspension at the end of last season.

With Michigan State coming up in Mackey Arena, the Boilermakers really needed to have Byrd on it to compete in the game, but as of right now, the odds of him playing are not looking good.
