Kate Upton is quickly rising in popularity, but she would hurt her status by being linked to New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez

Sure, famous people together creates buzz for both parties and it can be a good thing. However, Upton is a bombshell beauty who's becoming a bigger star than Sanchez, which is why she should stay away from him.

Plus, Sanchez isn't a proven winner, and a breathtaking Sports Illustrated swimsuit model like Upton should only be dating elite company.

In the Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Upton sits down with the host and wisely evades questions about dating Sanchez.

People magazine reports on how the interview went after DeGeneres asked if the two stars were dating.

"I did not have Valentine's Day date this year," she replies carefully.

Well, that's not a no. So, DeGeneres kept pressing. "He's cute," she says. "Don't you think he's cute?"

"Yeah, he is cute," Upton admits. "I've met him. My sister works for the Jets. And she's been working there for four years. So, I went to all the games."

"So, now you're dating him?" asked DeGeneres.

"I met him briefly," she replies. So, how long have they been dating? Upton finally says with a laugh: "I don't know what you're talking about."

Sanchez, who is 25 years old, is no stranger to going after the younger girls. Upton is only 19, and after she made the cover for the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, her stardom is taking off to unprecedented heights.

Part of the reason for that is because the cover spread has caused a huge debate, resulting in interesting remarks about what the teen star is wearing and not wearing.

Since she's reaching mega-star status, she's better off living the single life and not having the media haunt her about a relationship. If that's what she wants, then she should at least go after someone who receives far less scrutiny.

Sanchez may or may not be replaced by an aging Peyton Manning this offseason, which is proof that he isn't correct material for a woman as popular as Upton.

Rarely do celebrity couples work out, which is just another reason Upton needs to distance herself from Sanchez.
