It is looking likely that right-hander A.J. Burnett will be in a Pirates uniform when the team opens spring training Sunday in Bradenton, Fla.

Trade talks between the Pirates and New York Yankees picked up over the past 48 hours, with a source involved in the negotiations saying Sunday the two sides had a "framework" in place. Three other teams had inquired about Burnett, but the Pirates are considered the most likely to complete a deal.
