On Wednesday, February 15, the UFC will return to Omaha, Neb. for the first time since September 2008. The card, which will be held at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, will feature 10 fights and will be headlined by a welterweight scrap between former winner of The Ultimate Fighter Diego Sanchez and rising star Jake Ellenberger.
Sanchez has taken home two Fight of the Night bonuses in his last two victories and will be looking to put his name in the mix for a possible shot at welterweight gold with a victory in this bout. Sanchez has fought for a UFC title in the past, falling to B.J. Penn via TKO at UFC 107. That fight was stopped in the fifth and final round due to a cut.
Sanchez's opponent in Omaha, Jake Ellenberger, will also be looking to make a push for a title shot when he fights in front of a hometown crowd on February 15. Ellenberger is on a five-fight winning streak, with his last win being a 53-second knockout of former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields on October 1. That win earned Ellenberger Knockout of the Night honors.
The evening's co-main event will pit Stefan Struve against Dave Herman in a heavyweight contest.
