The San Francisco 49ers already have spent time chasing a big-name free agent cornerback a couple years ago in Nate Clements, ending with an ungodly eight-year, $80 million contract. Well, now there's another top corner coming avaliable in free agency and he's younger than Clements.

This free-agent cornerback would be a perfect fit for the 49ers, for one he's a local product from the University of California. Who is this corner? The answer is Nnamdi Asomugha, a player that the 49ers already missed on drafting.

How perfect would it be for the 49ers to get a local product who's become an elite corner in the NFL? It would definitely mean that quarterbacks would have a harder time throwing on the 49ers, even with the lack of pass rush they have.

To me this is a no-brainer for the 49ers. It's time to bring in Asomugha. For one, he will be replacing Walt Harris in the starting lineup because, let's face it, Harris is 34 years old and is not getting any younger.

Asomugha would provide the youthful legs and his ball-hawking skills would definitely be beneficial for the 49ers. Unfortunately, his asking price might be a little high for the 49ers, but it's a risk they should take.

An Asomugha-and-Clements combination at the corner position would definitely improve the 49ers' defense, and in the NFC West, that would make all the difference in making the playoffs next year.
