Georgia-Auburn Rivalry Could Be in Jeopardy

The Georgia-Auburn football game is known as the “Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry,” and dates to 1892. The game’s future, though, has become far from assured.

Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that SEC expansion could force an end to the annual Georgia-Auburn game, as well as another of the SEC’s annual East-West rivalry games, Alabama-Tennessee.
