SI Swimsuit Issue 2012: Alex Morgan a Magnificent Choice for Bodypaint Spread

It's been but two seasons on the calendar since the US women's national soccer team captured the nation's imagination with a run to the final at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany.
Thanks to the ever-fickle American attention span for soccer, that journey has largely been forgotten, with Abby Wombach's headers replaced by Tim Tebow's comebacks and Jeremy Lin's outburst in the nation's collective conscience.
Will you buy this year's swimsuit issue?
Luckily, Alex Morgan, the most memorable (and most attractive) member of the USWNT, has served a friendly notice to all sports fans with an alluring appearance in the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
The 22-year-old Berkeley grad will be featured among those gorgeous gals on the magazine's pages, sporting nothing...but bodypaint.
This comes just in time to get folks "excited" for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, in which the American women will be gunning for a gold medal in the country where the sport of football was invented. I can only imagine what further resentment America would engender by celebrating a "soccer" victory in jolly ol' England.
Not that those around the world who catch a glimpse of Morgan's artistry won't be at least a smidgen more accepting of America's soccer success because of it.
To see Morgan's entire spread, be sure to pick up the 2012 swimsuit issue when it hits newsstands on Valentine's Day.
Just be careful as to where you store it, lest you irritate your significant other on this most Hallmarked of holidays.
