We are now a full week removed from the Super Bowl, and the free agency rumors in the 2012 NFL offseason have already begun spilling out.

What is the latest around the AFC East? We have you covered with all of the weekend's biggest news right here.

New England Patriots

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald (Twitter: @KGuregian) writes that Colts receiver Reggie Wayne would be open to the idea of a move to New England. The Patriots could certainly use help at receiver, and Wayne might be one guy on the radar.

As we all know, though, wide receiver has been a hit-or-miss position for the Patriots, with far more misses than hits; that goes for veterans and younger players alike. Greg Bedard of The Boston Globe (Twitter: @GregABedard) has some insight with receivers coach Chad O'Shea. Bedard also shares thoughts on Devin McCourty, whom he believes will move back to cornerback next season.

On that note, Bleacher Report featured columnist Drew Bonifant (Twitter: @dbonifant) offers his thoughts on why the defense should be the No. 1 priority headed into the 2012 offseason.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins went 6-10 this year, but former quarterback Chad Pennington thinks they're not far from being an AFC contender, writes Brian Biggane of the Palm Beach Post. The 2011 season proved to be one of great balance in the AFC—no dominant team stood out. If that carries over into 2012, Pennington may be right.

Anyone who reads my blog posts knows I'm an X's and O's aficionado, so when I saw this post by Bleacher Report featured columnist Mario Cuadros (Twitter: @puchocuadros) about why the Dolphins are primed for a switch to the 4-3, I simply had to share.

Buffalo Bills

The Dolphins aren't the only team entertaining the thought of a defensive switch; in fact, the Bills have already openly stated their intent to do so. B/R contributor Josh Cembellin has winners and losers in the switch.

78344081_crop_340x234 Andre Reed spent much of his career taking big hits on receptions over the middle. Now, he's taken five big hits in the past five years, snubbed for the Hall of Fame each year.

One loser from this past week: Andre Reed, who was again denied a vote to the Hall of Fame. Jerry Sullivan of The Buffalo News (Twitter: @TBNSully) caught up with Reed, who is obviously upset, having made the finals five years straight only to fall short every time. Sullivan points out that Reed may be losing votes to Cris Carter and Tim Brown, two others who are considered worthy of Canton.

New York Jets

Time to pull the plug on Mark Sanchez? Maybe not, writes B/R featured columnist Michael Dixon (Twitter: @mdixon1985). Dixon says that amid the Peyton Manning rumors, Sanchez deserves another shot.

Meanwhile, ESPN New York's Rich Cimini (Twitter: @RichCimini) points out that the Jets have some serious salary cap issues that would prevent them from making such a move in the first place.
