My Tennis Coach and I: Why Is Novak Djokovic so Good?
Novak Djokovic: Ozzie 2012 Finals

Everyone has noticed this incredible hot streak that Novak Djokovic has been having. Ladies and gentlemen, it is not (only) because he has removed the gluten from his diet. It’s complicated yet simple: He is more confident than ever.
The word “confidence” gets thrown around so often that it loses its value. But it is absolutely the reason why he has become the most dominant player on tour.
He believes that he can hit any shot at any time from anywhere on the court. Kust as Roger Federer has lost his belief in that he can defeat Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard has lost belief in his ability to defeat Novak.
It’s easy for the fans to sit at home or in the crowd and be disappointed and bewildered when Rafa loses: “Geezy Pete’s, how did that happen?” Well, tennis is very similar to boxing. Like watching George Foreman and Muhammed Ali slug it out in the arena for the heavy weight championship, the fans say, “Oh, wow, he should have ducked” or “He should hit him back right now!”
Until you have stood up to the champ and actually felt the weight of his punches and the relentless barrage at which they are thrown, you can’t understand where Rafa’s doubts come from. So, even if you have the best seat in the stadium, Novak’s opponent actually had the best seat in the house. He (the opponent) is watching what’s happening and saying “Wow, this guy is good.”
