Maybe Oregon State's recruitment of bluechip offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo began -- indirectly -- in 1999 at the University of Hawaii, where the 4-year-old sons of two assistant coaches laughed and played and their dads joked about them someday becoming big-time college football players.

Mike Cavanaugh was Hawaii's offensive line coach 13 years ago, the job he has performed for OSU coach Mike Riley for seven seasons.
