Oregon State coach Mike Riley confirmed Thursday that he’s close to hiring 58-year-old NFL coaching veteran Rod Perry to fill the team’s coaching vacancy.

Perry, a former NFL player who spent the last five seasons as special assistant to the defense for the Indianapolis Colts, was in Corvallis with his family Thursday night and his wife was looking at houses.
