Notre Dame assistant coach Tony Alford interviewed for a job with the NFL's Green Bay Packers, a source close to the situation confirmed with 247Sports.

Alford, a 17-year veteran on the college level, has been with Notre Dame for the past three seasons as the lone holdover from former coach Charlie Weis' staff. He has coached the wide receivers for the Irish for the past two seasons, but was expected to return to the running backs, a position he has coached for the majority of his career. The source said it was unclear whether Alford would take the job in Green Bay even if it was offered to him.
