The Raiders released embattled cornerback Stanford Rout, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
Routt, who signed a three-year, $31 million contract in the offseason, struggled to fill Oakland's top cornerback spot that was vacated when Nnamdi Asomugha left via free agency.
