Phil Mickelson's Momentum-Changing Eagle: Best Stuff of the Week by Norton
In this week's "Best Stuff of the Week," brought to you by Norton, Bleacher Report takes an in-depth look at Phil Mickelson's momentum-changing eagle on the sixth hole in the final round of the AT&T Pro Am at Pebble Beach.
Partnered with his rival Tiger Woods, Mickelson entered Sunday six strokes behind leader Charlie Wi, but reversed his fortunes by pulling virtually even with Wi after the fifth hole.
Lefty positioned himself perfectly in the fairway with a 271-yard drive, then set his sights on the pin with his second shot from 235 yards out, landing the ball just 21 feet from the cup.
Mickelson’s putt possessed the perfect pace and distance to earn an eagle-three and take a two-shot lead over the field, which he never relinquished.
The victory was Mickelson’s 40th in his illustrious career—and he’s now 8-3-1 against Tiger when playing head-to-head since 2007.
Mickelson’s eagle on the sixth hole at Pebble Beach was the catalyst for victory, making it our “Best Stuff of the Week.”
