The University of Miami’s most infamous fan, Nevin Shapiro, will be back in the spotlight Wednesday.

CNBC will air a new American Greed episode on the imprisoned Miami Beach Ponzi schemer, who stole millions from wealthy investors and lavished gifts on UM football stars. The program, “Major League Fraud,” airs at 10 p.m.

Shapiro, convicted of running a grocery-business scam, lived what the TV show calls a life of “tropical indulgence” until it all crashed in 2008. The South Florida transplant, now serving a 20-year prison sentence, sparked an NCAA investigation into UM’s athletic program.
