Power Ranking Michael Vick, Tiger Woods and America's Most Hated Athletes

We all have at least one athlete we hate. Thanks to Forbes, we now have a way of gauging how the public feels about sports figures.
The company has released its annual list of the most disliked athletes in America. Most of the names are familiar, but there are a few new additions that throw everything into a state of flux.
The most disliked athletes in each sport, according to Forbes, are Michael Vick (NFL), Kris Humphries (NBA), Alex Rodriguez (MLB), Kurt Busch (NASCAR) and Tiger Woods (Golf). Hockey didn't have anyone whose name resonated with enough people to be included on the list.
What we are going to do is take the Forbes list and rank these players based on how much we dislike them.
Here are our rankings of the most hated athletes in America right now.
5. Kris Humphries, NBA

The only reason people are even aware Humphries exists is because of his "marriage" to Kim Kardashian. He should not be on the list, but it just goes to show how angry casual fans became over everything that went on between him and his "wife."
The media attention surrounding him has died down considerably since Kim K decided that she wasn't happy with the marriage, and no one seemed to know what happened to Humphries after that.
The irony of the whole thing is, he is having the best season of his career with the New Jersey Nets. His 13.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game are both career highs. But no one pays attention to the Nets, so he is nothing.

Who Do You Hate The Most?
Unlike the other players on this list, Rodriguez does not have any personal baggage that should warrant such venom from casual fans. He did get divorced, but who doesn't nowadays?
His huge contract and smug attitude on the field rubs fans the wrong way. He gets beat up for not performing in the postseason, and the way he handled opting out of his contract after the 2007 season did not exactly do much to endear himself to people.
The steroid issue has only increased the hatred that fans feel towards him. You can't go to a Yankees game without hearing at least 1,000 fans talking about giving him a new needle or something like that.
3. Tiger Woods, PGA

The fact that Tiger cheated on his wife was bad enough, but when you get into all the nasty details of what he was doing, it's no wonder that he remains one of the most despised athletes over two years after the fact.
He was seemingly living the perfect life. His wife was always by his side to support him. They have two beautiful children. All of this is to say nothing of the money that he was bringing in just for showing up to play 72 holes of golf and do some commercials.
But the affairs and cover-up made him go from one of the most revered athletes of all-time to one of the biggest frauds we have seen. His reputation is recovering a little bit, but fans are an unforgiving group of people.
2. Michael Vick, NFL
No matter what Vick does on and off the football field, he is always going to be a leper to a majority of American sports fans.
The fact that his popularity has recovered slightly over the last three years is a testament to the good things he is doing and his changed attitude, but it is going to take a long time before he gets off this list.
The Eagles knew the risk they were taking when they signed him, and he has been a perfect citizen in the three years since coming back to the NFL. That is why he has "fallen" to No. 2 on this particular list.
1. Kurt Busch, NASCAR

I will admit up front to not being a big NASCAR fan, but just seeing the way that Busch carries himself on and off the track, there is no athlete in this country right now who is so easy to hate.
Not only will he jaw back and forth with his fellow drivers for no real reason after a race, he will use his car as a weapon against anyone he thinks might be getting in his way.
He is just not a good person. He wants everyone to see what he is doing and why he is doing it. He is willing to put his fellow drivers in harm's way to prove a point.
