HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- It was only a nine-paragraph story, planted on page three in that afternoon's sports section 10 years ago today, hustling it into print as the story broke that morning.
After all, there was other, bigger news in the sports pages. Auburn was basking in a top 10 recruiting class while Alabama's Dennis Franchione was struggling, what with recent sanctions against his program. Anthony Jones was rounding up his first recruiting class at Alabama A&M.
