University of Wisconsin men's basketball coach Bo Ryan was so fascinated by a recent column in the New York Times he distributed copies of it to his players.
Its headline — "Average is Over" — was succinct. And while Pulitzer Prize winning author Thomas Friedman was writing about education and business, Ryan thought the article applied to athletics as well.
