Super Bowl 2012: Can New York Giants Repeat Next Season?

As the New York Giants celebrate their recent Super Bowl win, fans should be happy to know that this group can do it again next season.
It is incredibly difficult to win a championship two seasons in a row. Only the New England Patriots have accomplished that feat since 2000.
However, the Giants can be the most complete team in the NFL going into next season.
This year, the league was filled with one-dimensional teams.
The New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots all had great offenses but had terrible defenses.
The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers were tough to score on but could not match up with top teams on offense.
During the regular season, these teams are able to beat up on lesser opponents that cannot match up with the level of talent. Once the playoffs begin, though, every weak spot is magnified.
The Giants only won nine games during the season, but they were good enough on both sides of the football to win four more in the playoffs in order to take home the Lombardi Trophy.
What the team lacked in the defensive secondary it made up for with an excellent pass-rush. By the postseason, New York was also a much better running team with a healthy Ahmad Bradshaw.

Still, the key to the team's success was the leadership of Eli Manning. Even after the quarterback led his team to a win in Super Bowl XLII and took home the MVP, he still remained the butt of every joke.
Maybe it is because he always had more pressure on him as the first overall draft pick for a New York team or the younger brother of a great quarterback.
Maybe it is because he makes a dumb face after every time something goes wrong.
The important thing is that the youngest Manning finally will get the respect that he deserves. That respect will turn into confidence as he becomes an elite quarterback for a dominant team.
The team still has some needs. They need an upgrade at linebacker and more help on the offensive line, but they are closer to complete than any other team in the NFL.
If the Giants can return next season with the same intensity they had throughout the playoffs, New York will be hosting another ticker-tape parade a year from now.
