In his fourth year as head coach, Bill Parcells won a Super Bowl ring.

Tom Coughlin did the same.

In his eighth year as head coach, Parcells won a second Super Bowl ring.

Coughlin replicated that feat yesterday as well.

Ironically, Parcells was denied entrance to Canton, Ohio on the day his former employer added a fourth Lombardi Trophy to their championship mantle.

But in the case of Coughlin, he has coached his way out of the Parcells shadow by equaling Parcells on the field of play with a second Super Bowl championship!

Like Bill Belichick before him, the disciples of the Parcells coaching tree now have five Super Bowl wins in eight tries.

For that, Coughlin will be going to Canton when his time with the New York Giants comes to a close.

No more questions about his coaching style or likability. No more questioning his ability to lead.

Coughlin has done it quietly and his way.

Like Coughlin, Eli Manning has won in the same way.

Quiet leadership.

No one can question the character or mental toughness of this Manning.

Is he the best of all the Manning quarterbacks?

Maybe.

Is he the biggest winner of the Manning clan?

No question about it.

In the biggest of stages, Manning is simply an effective closer of championship clashes.

To win two Super Bowls is one thing, but to defeat a Super Bowl icon twice in Tom Brady including defeating an undefeated opponent in the age of Super Bowl play is simply unmatched.

With four Super Bowl Championships, are the Giants now on par with the Forty-Niner's, Steelers and Packers as one of the NFL's most successful winners?

Unmatched.

Brady had 16 straight completions and roared back from a 9-0 deficit.

Yeah, he had some drops, but Brady couldn't get the ball down field and his tight ends couldn't dominate this Giants defense.

Between the short passing and an unexpected safety, this was not the Brady before that knee injury that has clearly changed the way he plays.

Everyone loves a winner.

Manning stated early in the season he is an elite quarterback.

He's more than an elite quarterback, he's a Hall of Famer in waiting, just like Coughlin.
