Tampa Bay Buccaneers Taking Slow Assembly Boat for Staff

Has Butch Davis said "no" to the Buccaneers?
Has Butch Davis said "no" to the Buccaneers?

Where's the staff?

Please, someone, anyone.

Where's Butch Davis? Someone, anyone?

The staff assembly process for new coach Greg Schiano just got passed by some slow-moving snails.

Ah, fear not, P.J. Fleck is in the house!

P.J. Fleck? Yes, Fleck. has been plucked from the arms of Northern Illinois where he spent exactly one day as offensive coordinator. He's the first staffer for Schiano and will handle the wide receivers.

It's curious that nothing has happened as far as Davis is concerned. Which could mean he's not interested in coming to the Bucs.

There is now talk that Schiano could be interested in Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, former defensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks.

But as of today, the Monday after the Super Bowl, things are pretty empty at One Buc Place.

Perhaps there's a method here. Mark Dominik said during the head coaching search that Monte Kiffin took his time when he assembled his defensive staff.

Sadly, there's not anyone close to Kiffin in the house of Pewter right now to take his time of day to build a defensive staff.

Are you squirming just a bit?

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Schiano is already getting wise-cracked in some circles for the lack of faces on his staff.

Right now, the waiting goes on.

Hey Butch, what's the problem?
