UFC 143 Predictions: How Far Away from a Title Shot is Dustin Poirier?

As Dustin Poirier enters his fourth UFC fight against Max Holloway, it's safe to assume the 23-year-old has found his way into title contention at 145 pounds.
After going undefeated so far in the Octagon, Poirier has made quite a name for himself at such a young age. Beating the likes of Pablo Garza, Josh Grispi and Jason Young has surely brought up Poirier's name into consideration regarding a potential title shot.
If "The Diamond" is able to walk away victorious over Holloway at UFC 143, it will be his fourth straight win in the Octagon and his fifth consecutive win overall.
With the lack of depth in the UFC featherweight division momentarily, it would be ideal for Poirier to receive a title shot against Jose Aldo. However, given his age and his inexperience, it is doubtful he would put up much of a competitive fight against one of the sport's top pound-for-pound fighters in Aldo.
It is likely Poirier will continue to climb the proverbial ladder and gain more experience before the UFC decides to schedule him for a title bout anytime soon.
Gradually, Poirier will grow as a mixed martial artist. He has the potential to become champion at some point in his career, but for now, he should appreciate what he has accomplished so far.
