If you can read between the lines of Pro Football Talk's latest post on New York Jets receiver Plaxico Burress, or simply share the opinion of Mike Florio, don't expect the receiver to be back with the Jets in 2012.

Burress avoided several questions about the Jets' 2011 season and didn't exactly stick up for his much-maligned quarterback. While that might not be a roster death wish, it might be time to end this one-year relationship.

If Burress isn't back in New York in 2012, the Jets are likely forcing themselves back into free agency to find a receiver to replace him.

The Jets could turn to these five free agent receivers to replace Burress if he's gone in 2012:

1. Vincent Jackson, Chargers

The relationship between Jackson and the Chargers has been frayed, so it's likely that the Pro Bowl receiver will be looking for a new city to call home this offseason.

Jackson would be an upgrade over Burress and his attitude would fit right into that locker room.

2. Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs

There's a good chance that the Chiefs franchise tag Bowe to keep him from getting away. However, if he's available, there may not be a better option for the Jets. Bowe has produced throughout his career despite poor quarterback play.

3. Robert Meachem, Saints

A former first-round pick, Meachem never broke out in the Saints' deep receiving corps.

Now that he's a free agent, the 27-year-old may look for an offense that gives him more targets and opportunities. He'd also provide the Jets with more of a downfield option, which they've lacked.

4. Reggie Wayne, Colts

The Jets have swayed towards veteran receivers under Rex Ryan, and there may not be a more experienced player on the market that Wayne.

With the Colts looking at a youth movement sweeping the franchise, Wayne could be left to walk.

5. DeSean Jackson, Eagles

Finally, we get to the wild card in this bunch. While the Eagles will certainly make a play to get Jackson back in Philadelphia, I have no doubt that he'd bolt the team that drafted him for more money. The Jets need more team speed on offense, too.
