Today's front page of the Seattle Times held a picture of Oaks Christian prospect Jordan Payton, with the headline "UW Finishing With A Fury: Dawgs get late nod from top national prospect Jordan Payton."
The University of Washington celebrated landing the 4-star wide receiver amidst the loss of in-state recruits Cedric Dozier, Zach Banner, Kei'vare Russel and Joshua Garnett. A talented wide receiver ranked fifteenth in the nation by Scout.com and Rivals.com, Payton was supposed to be bringing another spark to the UW offense.
Jordan Payton's entire recruiting process might as well be summed up in one phrase: flip-flopping. He reportedly committed to USC and Cal, and finally to UW. That is until today at 9:30 a.m., when the college on his national letter of intent was UCLA. The report came from scout.com.
The Husky's recruiting class still packs a punch. Highlighted by Shaq Thompson, Jeff Lindquist and Cyler Miles, UW still has the possibility of being a Top-20 recruiting class in the nation.
As we all know though, the end result of recruiting is all that matters, and national signing day completely supports this notion.
Rumors are circulating all around, and the departure stings. UCLA won that round. Jordan Payton emphasized what the recruiting process is all about, "finishing with a fury."
