Miami Football Recruiting: 6 Recruits Who Will Bring the Miami Hurricanes Back

0 of 6

Gone are the days of the Miami Hurricanes walking into a stadium and striking fear into their opponent with only their swagger.

Also gone are the days when they would repeatedly hang 40-plus points on opposing defenses while running circles around them with their plethora of tremendous athletes.

National championships are no longer the norm in Coral Gables, and neither are bunches of first round NFL draft selections. This is a problem.

What was once one of the proudest programs in all of college football has turned into a mediocre Atlantic Coast Conference team, one which has been toiling in obscurity for the better part of this decade.

Luckily, amid the Nevin Shapiro Scandal that is looming over the university like a category five hurricane cloud, second year head coach Al Golden has the University of Miami headed in the right direction.

In order to become a prominent team in college football again, they need athletes who possess the swagger of past Hurricanes stars. Stars who are good, and know they are good.

Here are six future Miami Hurricanes who will help bring the "U" back.

6. Raphael Kirby

1 of 6

    Height: 6'1"

    Weight: 215 pounds

    Position: Outside Linebacker

    40 Time: 4.66

High School: Stephenson High School (GA)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

Raphael Kirby has the look of becoming the next star linebacker at the University of Miami. The 6'1", 215 pound run-stopper has excellent strength coupled with speed that will allow him to fly around the field making plays like Hurricanes of old. He enrolled early at UM and will look to make an immediate impact next season.

5. Angelo Jean-Louis

2 of 6

    Height: 6'0"

    Weight: 185 pounds

    Position: Wide Receiver

    40 Time: 4.59

High School: Palm Beach Central High School (FL)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

He is the total package at the wide receiver position. He has fairly good size at 6'0", and he has the kind of wiry strength that will really benefit him at the next level and beyond. He is a versatile wideout who can play both inside and out. His athleticism is what stands out, making him one of the five best receivers in the class of 2012.

4. Deon Bush

3 of 6

    Height: 6'1"

    Weight: 177 pounds

    Position: Safety

    40 Time: 4.44

High School: Christopher Columbus High School (FL)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

Deon Bush is another tall and long athlete who will be able to cover a lot of the field in his days wearing a Miami Hurricanes uniform. He is one of the fastest and most athletic safeties in the 2012 class, which has made him one of the five most coveted players at his position. He is a big-play threat, and could also be a factor in the Hurricanes return game.

3. Tyriq McCord

4 of 6

    Height: 6'3"

    Weight: 220 pounds

    Position: Defensive End

    40 Time: 4.50

High School: Thomas Jefferson High School (FL)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

The muscular defensive end prospect is a workaholic. His motor is constantly running, and he is the type of prospect who will maximize all of his ability. At some point in his career, he could also make the switch to the linebacker position, where he could also star. Whatever he may lack in star power right now, he will prove to overcome with hard work and Miami pride at the next level.

2. Tracy Howard

5 of 6

    Height: 5'11"

    Weight: 175 pounds

    Position: Cornerback

    40 Time: 4.65

High School: Miramar High School (FL)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

Tracy Howard shocked the recruiting world today when he picked his hometown Miami Hurricanes, and there are plenty of reasons to celebrate the decision. He is a long and athletic pressing corner who loves to play aggressively. He has good leaping ability, and he also has the natural tools to become another in a long line of Miami lockdown cornerbacks.

1. Randy "Duke" Johnson

6 of 6

    Height: 5'9"

    Weight: 180 pounds

    Position: Athlete

    40 Time: 4.42

High School: Miami Norland High School (FL)

Why He Will Star at Miami:

Randy "Duke" Johnson is the star of the 2012 recruiting class. He has long been the recruit who has looked to become a flagship for other stars to follow him to Miami, and he is exactly the kind of confident recruit they need. He is one of the best running backs that the city of Miami has seen at the high school level. He also has the natural ability to play multiple positions in college, as well as to become a star in the return game.
