The January transfer window has come and gone, and despite there being some expected moves there are a group of players that yet remain with their current clubs despite all the belief that they would be moved on.

Time still exists for several moves as not all of the transfer windows are closed completely, but there is not too much more action that will be scene.

In one of the most economically sound transfer windows I have witnessed in a long time, it was interesting to see who failed to make their exodus.

Andre Mariappa

Watford's young defensive stalwart Andre Mariappa turned down the chance to move to Wigan Athletic. That is understandable as no one wants to make a lateral move, but it was thought Newcastle United were going to take him late but their bid was rejected.

Paul Pogba

Want-away Manchester United youth star Paul Pogba has been trying to get away from Old Trafford all season.

January looked as though it would provide him with his wish, but it was Ravel Morrison that got out rather than Pogba.

Salomon Kalou

The out of favor Chelsea supersub seemed a sure bet to leave Stamford Bridge this window, as his age and experience were thought to have made him attractive to at least some mid level clubs.

Niko Kranjcar

Croatia and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Niko Kranjcar has been a limited fixture for Harry Redknapp since he moved to London.

Only 11 appearances this season continues to make it look like he should have been pushing for the exit door with plenty of clubs that could benefit from the 27-year-old.

Milos Krasic

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and a host of other teams were all interested in signing Serbian winger Milos Krasic on loan from Seria A side Juventus.

The player has been out of favor for the majority of the season and was looking for first team action elsewhere. However, it appears no one could offer the right deal.

There is a chance he could still move somewhere like Russia, as their transfer window is still open through part of February.

Hugo Rodallega

Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega is out of contract in the summer and, with the Latic's looking almost certain to be relegated, it seems foolish to sit on him when he could net a return rather than a straight loss if he leaves this summer on a Bosman.

Jan Vertonghen

Ajax Amsterdam's Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen was believed to be headed to Arsenal come January, but the move never materialized.

With the Gunners in need of defensive help more than ever it is still a shock he did not make the move.

Talksport reported that Sunderland even made a late move, but were turned down.

Andrei Arshavin

The little Russian did not take his leave from the Emirates on deadline day or even during the month of January, as the arrival of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to have made him obsolete.

However, there is still a chance of a move but the likelihood is unknown at this point.

Chris Samba

It looked for certain that Chris Samba was going to force a move away from Ewood Park.

However, Steve Kean stuck to his guns and held on to the player, which could be huge for them in the last 16 games.

Carlos Tevez

The transfer saga of Carlos Tevez and Manchester City continues. It looked like one of either Inter Milan, AC Milan, Paris Saint Germain or even a last ditch loan move by Liverpool would have seen him go back to action.
