Christmas came a little later — or, a lot earlier, depending on how you look at it — for Boise State running back D.J. Harper.

Following a pair of ACL tears, one in 2009 against Fresno State and again in ’10 against Oregon State, the NCAA has granted Harper a sixth year of eligibility, the school announced today on its Twitter account. Harper had played in just three games in each of those seasons before suffering the injury. The NCAA can give medical hardships to a player that misses more than 30 percent of a season.
