The January transfer window is renowned for shock buys at the very end of the transfer window.

Last year we witnessed the unthinkable: beloved Fernando Torres moving on from Liverpool to Chelsea.

The transfer window also saw the phenomenal Luis Suarez arrive from Ajax, and the not-so-phenomenal Andy Caroll break the record British transfer fee.

This January, the transfer window has been fairly quiet, the most notable signing being a two-month deal for Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, and the other being Paul Scholes coming out of retirement.

However, it could just be the calm before the storm, as we might witness some blockbuster transfer deals commencing on deadline day.

5. Luis Suarez to Real Madrid

Face the facts, Luis Suarez was a scapegoat for the FA.

Liverpool supporters weren’t pleased and neither was Suarez. There have been reports that Real are seeking to sign Suarez who would be an excellent addition to the squad.

The chances of him going away are pretty slim, but Real Madrid is a tempting option given his hostile relationship with the FA.

4. Fernando Torres to PSG

Fernando Torres has been a headache at the Stamford Bridge for far too long now.

Even though he has performed sensationally this season, Andre Villas Boas doesn’t seem to give him a chance.

Expect Torres to be reunited with his previous manager, Carlo Ancelotti, who bought him, at PSG

3. Dimitar Berbatov to PSG

PSG have risen to become heavyweights on the transfer market after their newly-acquired wealth, and they have been making great signings left and right.

It's no secret that PSG have been trying to snatch Dimitar Berbatov from day one.

Given the lack of playing time, Berbatov might just leave Old Trafford.

For a quality player like Dimitar Berbatov, the job of bench warming is simply not enough. He still has a lot of class and potential as highlighted by his previous form.

2. Carlos Tevez to Anywhere

The Carlos Tevez saga has been running so long that it's not funny anymore.

After talks with AC Milan, Inter Milan and PSG all failed, Manchester City might be looking to get rid of their ever-whining burden in Carlos Tevez.

Expect top clubs to capitalize on Manchester City and Tevez’s lack of options.

1. Luka Modric to Chelsea

Luka Modric to Chelsea would be the deal of the season if it went through.

Honestly, I don’t see this transfer materializing, but if there is one thing we have learned from January transfer windows, specifically the last day, it is that shocking deals do happen.

If Modric does leave, though, expect Chelsea to shell out at least £50 million for the Croatian maestro.

Tottenham are in splendid form, and Modric is an integral part to that squad. If Modric leaves, Bale might soon follow.
