With Sheamus' shocking win at this year’s Royal Rumble, the options of who he could face at WrestleMania XXVIII in the main event are limitless.
Will Sheamus take on the fan-favorite in CM Punk for his WWE Title? Will he take on Smackdown’s world heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan?
At first thought, the WWE could put Sheamus into a program with Punk on Raw for the WWE Title. Both Sheamus and Punk are on the Raw roster, and with both of these wrestlers being baby faces, it could lead to Sheamus turning into a monster heel again and destroying everything in his path.
However, since they have taken so much time in building Sheamus up as a good guy, who fights against bullies, why would they kill all of that just for the match at Mania?
The smart decision would be to instead have Sheamus go over to Smackdown and take on Bryan for the world heavyweight championship.
In this feud, Sheamus can remain the good guy as he tries to take the title off the smug Bryan.
Meanwhile, Bryan can try to use Sheamus’ power against him, just like he did against Big Show and Mark Henry in his last successful title defense at the Royal Rumble.
Plus, Bryan has not had a long feud to work into his world heavyweight championship reign. Yes, he had a nice feud with Big Show and Henry. However, the feud did nothing to establish Bryan as a legit champion. Instead, it just helped him get over as a heel.
Who should Sheamus face at WrestleMania XXVIII?
Having Sheamus vs. Bryan would give us a great feud that could get Bryan over as one of the top guys on Smackdown, while still giving the belt over to Sheamus.
If the WWE put Sheamus against Punk at WrestleMania XXVIII, it would be hard to buy into the idea of the Irishman having a legit shot at dethroning the champion. Instead, a high-profile match against Bryan would have the viewers at the event and at home split as to who would win the match.
Sheamus and the WWE can pick whomever he wants to as his opponent at WrestleMania XXVIII.
However, the smart and right decision would be a match against Bryan for the world heavyweight championship.
