WWE Royal Rumble 2012: My “Classic” Predictions

0 of 4

We are less then twelve hours away from the Royal Rumble. Now is the time when all WWE fans search the internet for articles that best support why their favorite wrestler is going to win the Rumble match.

This pay per view seems to have the surprise factor taken out of it since most believe CM Punk is going to be screwed out of his title and Chris Jericho will win the Royal Rumble itself.

Would the WWE really make all of the outcomes THAT obvious though?

    Let’s find out!

John Cena vs. Kane

1 of 4

Embrace the hate vs. embrace the Boy Scout!

Tonight is the night we find out if John Cena is turning heel or if this has all been another trick that fans fell for.

I give kudos to the WWE for building this feud up and not having Kane and John Cena constantly killing one another in the process. I enjoyed the fact that the WWE employed psychological warfare in this storyline as opposed to having them fight on Raw and then again at the PPV.

Kane has been made into a monster heel that only wants one thing:  John Cena to “embrace the hate.” Most fans realize that the outcome of this match does not matter as far as who wins, but what does matter is the character John Cena will portray after the conclusion of this match.

I believe this will be a fairly violent battle and end up involving tables, chairs and just about anything else they want to use against one another. Aside from weapon play I will also be looking out for numerous power moves and brawling-a-plenty. This will not be a technical match by any means.

Kane and Cena will have a typical back and forth match until Cena snaps and starts beating Kane like he has never been beaten before. Before Cena ends the match Kane will be laughing as he has completed his objective by turning John Cena into a heel.

    Or did he?

John Cena will catch himself once he sees Kane laughing and will finally realize what he has become. At this point Cena will shake his head and probably make Kane submit via the STF.

After the match John Cena will get on a mic and let everyone know that he will NEVER embrace hate and will only rise above it. If you do not buy the Royal Rumble pay per view you will be able to catch this speech again on Raw the next night and every other night for all of eternity.

    Winner:  John Cena

    Loser:  Kane and the fans

World Heavyweight Championship: Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry

2 of 4

For once viewers will have to actually PAY to watch a World Heavyweight Championship match. For the last four weeks you have been able to watch free title matches on Smackdown involving these same three men.

Tonight we will see what happens though when you throw all three of these men into a steel cage match for the belt. Who will have the advantage? Will it be the man who is the closest to the top of the cage, the man who has the most gravitational pull or the man who is the only competitor under 400 pounds?

The WWE has made it obvious that Daniel Bryan will be turning heel on this night, leaving the Big Show as the only true face in the match. Regardless of who is face or heel, the Big Show and Mark Henry are only being used to make Daniel Bryan look like a more legitimate champion.

Unfortunately I do believe this will have an obvious outcome of Daniel Bryan winning. However before you get upset I want to ask my readers if you would rather have the obvious choice win or have them take the title off of Daniel Bryan for Big Show or Mark Henry?

I love Mark Henry as a heel but I do not see another title run in him at this stage and the same can be said for the Big Show. They are only in the WWE to help establish talent at this point and Daniel Bryan needs all the help he can get.

I believe the match will actually be very entertaining, chock full of power moves off the top of the cage. The Big Show will have his heart broken as he inches closes to the door of the cage only to have Daniel Bryan pin Mark Henry right behind him.

    Winner:  Daniel Bryan

Losers: Big Show and Mark Henry

WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler

3 of 4

Most fans have speculated if CM Punk will be screwed out of his title against Dolph Ziggler since John Laurinaitis will be the special guest referee. We now have to take into consideration that if Laurinaitis does in fact cost Punk the match that he may be “fired” tomorrow night on Raw.

No matter what happens with Laurinaitis, I believe Punk and Ziggler will be putting on a clinic tonight. I see this being the match of the night in terms of pure entertainment value. Both men are very talented and will push one another to have a great match.

I honestly believe John Laurinaitis will play a minor role in this match and not interfere whatsoever. CM Punk will win cleanly and John Laurinaitis will call the match right down the middle.

I believe Johnny Ace will still be relieved of his role as GM of Raw though. I am not sure if enough fans clicked with Laurinaitis and so the WWE will most likely get rid of him and cater to fans by bringing in Mick Foley as the new GM. I would be against such a move as I am not a fan of having a face for the GM, but that is my opinion.

The real loser in all of this though is Dolph Ziggler. Many fans were ready for Ziggy to move into the main event scene but I look at this match as similar to Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel at WrestleMania 11. HBK got a taste of the main event and when he lost he went right back to the Intercontinental Championship division.

I see the same thing happening to Ziggler. He will lose to CM Punk tonight and will be cast back down into the mid card where he will feud with Swagger for the United States belt. I do believe though, like Michaels, we will see Dolph Ziggler in a year and he will get into the main event picture permanently.

CM Punk will retain the belt because Ziggler was only the appetizer to what will be happening in the future for Punk.

    Winner:  CM Punk

    Loser: Dolph Ziggler

Double Loser: John Laurinaitis when he gets fired and Pedigreed

The Royal Rumble Match

4 of 4

I cannot be clearer about my prediction: Chris Jericho is going to win and if he does not then his whole return will be a joke. If you have read my articles over the last month then you know I do not even support Jericho’s return, but he has to win after all of the promos and build up. Anything else would be a failure and even I recognize that.

Unfortunately the Rumble will be extremely predictable this year.

Another favorite to win is Randy Orton since it is being held in his home town but it would be a mistake to pick Orton due to this fact. Orton would make a great winner to challenge Daniel Bryan for the title at WrestleMania, but he cannot win because of the Jericho factor.

Randy Orton deserves the win more than anyone because of his selflessness over the last few months, but it is not going to happen.

I am rooting for Wade Barrett to win because I believe he is a main event star in the making, but it would not make sense for him to win considering Daniel Bryan is a heel. I do not see a heel vs. heel match being a good World Heavyweight Championship bout at WrestleMania. Of course Bryan could lose the title before that, but it’s not likely.

I have heard a lot of fans calling for Sheamus to win the Rumble as well. I like Sheamus but I do not see how he would supersede the above three names. Perhaps the “Celtic Warrior” will have a nice showing but I do not see a victory for the “Great White.”

Surprise Entrants: Christian, “Cowboy” Bob Orton

Most Eliminations: Randy Orton with 6

Longest Time in Rumble: Wade Barrett 36:58

Final Four: Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Wade Barrett, John Cena

Winner: Chris Jericho by eliminating Randy Orton
