While Bob Arum is hoping to sign a contract with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to face Manny Pacquiao in November, Juan Manuel Marquez is waiting for Arum to send a similar contract, with a guarantee that Marquez will face Pacquiao in November as well.

In either March or April, Marquez is slated to step inside the ring against Lamont Peterson, but he is not willing to do this unless Arum guarantees him a Pacquiao fight.

"Before I accept an agreement, it must include a fight against Pacquiao. Otherwise, I will not sign it. I will not serve as a stepping stone for others," declared Marquez.

To be honest, despite the fact that I want to see Pacquiao face Mayweather Jr. more than anyone else, I think that Marquez deserves another shot, and it should be very high priority for team Pacquiao.

I can understand why Arum would not be interested in making such a deal, but I am hoping that Arum can at least offer Marquez a later date guarantee.
