Royal Rumble 2012: Tag Team Titles and Others Missing from Card

There are some glaring omissions from the 2012 Royal Rumble card, like an Intercontinental, Tag Team or even a Divas Title matches. All of these championships could be defended at the rumble. However, all are left off the card.

These are matches that could have been fit into the pay-per-view on Sunday, if they had the time.

WWE Tag Team Championship match: Champions Epico and Primo vs. The Usos

The WWE hates tag teams. Okay, they will never come out and publicly say that they do not care for that division, but they made the title switch at a house show.

This title match would be a fun way to open the Royal Rumble by having these two high-energy, high-flying teams ignite the crowd. They would only need about five minutes to put together a compelling match that would see the tag team champions retain their belts.

Epico and Primo would get a big tag team victory, and The Usos would get some camera time on a pay-per-view to remind everyone who they are.

WWE Divas Championship match: Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve Torres

Beth has been lost in the shuffle after her dominating victory over Kelly Kelly at Tables Ladders and Chairs.

At recent house shows, Beth has taken on Eve in a regular singles match. On the pay-per-view, they could eat up five to seven minutes to allow the crowd to recover before the Royal Rumble match.

Plus, with Eve being involved in the Zack Ryder/John Cena/Kane storyline, it gives her face recognition with the fans at the pay-per-view and at home watching.

Intercontinental Championship match: Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Justin Gabriel

Cody hasn’t had a real challenger to his Intercontinental Title. Yes, Booker T has given Cody some good matches recently, but, Booker was never a true threat to defeat Rhodes for the title.

Recently, Gabriel has faced off against Rhodes on SmackDown and took on Rhodes in a very good match.

At the Royal Rumble, these two could fight with Gabriel getting a few close two-counts, only to come up short in the end. Rhodes would retain his title in the end, but it would give Cody a legit contender to his IC-Title as the WWE heads into WrestleMania XXVIII.

These three matches will not make the card because of the time crunch the WWE is on. However, if they had some more time, it would have been nice to see one of these three titles defended on the card.
