Virginia Gives Da'Shawn Hand, Class of 2014 Phenom, 7th Different Offer

Danny FlynnJun 7, 2018

Da'Shawn Hand may only be a sophomore at Woodbridge High School in Virginia, but he’s already quickly ascending to the status of recruiting royalty, and with the way the scholarship offers are starting to pile up, something tells me that Hand is going to need to get a bigger mailbox pretty soon.

The young phenom won’t graduate high school for another two years, but he’s already received seven offers from prominent college football programs such as Boston College, Michigan, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia Tech.

This week, the latest offer arrived from the Virginia Cavaliers.

Virginia head coach Mike London may be busy right now, trying to put the finishing touches on one of the ACC’s top recruiting classes, but that didn't stop him from finding the time to send out an offer to Hand.

London has probably heard all about the Virginia native by now, and he made a wise move to enter the race with Virginia Tech and other schools to try to build a bond with the young developing star as early as possible.

After following up a season in which he recorded 21 sacks and earned second-team All-Northwest regional honors, with an eye-opening performance at this year’s All-American combine, Hand has certainly put himself on the recruiting map, as he already looks capable of developing into one of the future blue-chip prospects of the 2014 class.

It may be a little too early to tell just how good he could be down the line, but the 6’4’’, 245-pound sophomore is obviously loaded with potential, and the fact that he’s already receiving this type of attention and receiving these types of offers so early in his high school career just goes to show how highly he’s thought of in the recruiting world already.

If Hand keeps physically maturing as expected, he possesses the type of edge speed, power and raw athleticism to develop into an absolute pass-rushing phenom over the next few years.
