This offseason has been busy for the Syracuse Orange as they continue to put their five-game losing skid behind them. With National Signing Day coming on fast, there is finally some good news for Doug Marrone's injury-ridden squad.
With Greg Schiano abruptly leaving Rutgers for the Tampa Bay Bucs, the recruiting trail just got hotter. SB Nation New York is reporting that the Orange are already going in for the raid.
The Orange have contacted 3-star wide receiver Leonte Carroo, who had verbally committed to Greg Schiano before his jump. The Orange also have a scholarship offer for 4-star defensive end Darius Hamilton; however, he had narrowed his list to Rutgers and Florida and will more than likely chose the latter.
This is good news for the Orange, who have seen three verbal recruits change their tune over the last week. Linebacker Leroy Owens de-committed for FIU, Tashon Whitehurst has now opened the door for Rutgers, Cuse and South Florida and Josh Manly has decided to become a "soft verbal" after visiting Missouri.
In the ACC, the Newport News Daily Press is reporting that the ACC's meetings next week will have division changes on the agenda, as the ACC looks to add Pittsburgh and Syracuse at some point in the future.
While neither Syracuse nor Pitt will likely join until 2014, knowing opponents ahead of time will affect Syracuse's non-conference schedule, which currently includes Boston College (ACC) and Notre Dame for that year.
