The Royal Rumble is known for having shocking returns for their 30-man over-the-top battle royal match.
Last year saw the returns of Kevin Nash and Booker T to the WWE family. This year, Brock Lesnar leads a crop of wrestlers who should return at the Royal Rumble.
Since Lesnar retired from the UFC because of injuries, he has gone silent as to what his next move will be.
However, before Lesnar announced his retirement, he was working with the WWE, being the head of the playable legends in the video game, “WWE ’12.”
Because Lesnar is no longer on a regimented UFC schedule, because of his involvement with the WWE in promoting their latest video game and because he would be a draw to the event, it means that he should enter the rumble match on Sunday.
Yes, Flair is still working with Impact Wrestling, aka TNA. However, when the Four Horsemen were announced to be inducted at the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame, he announced that he would be at the event.
That statement from Flair shows that he does not care what TNA may do if he would pop up on WWE programing.
Now, if Flair would make a surprise return to the rumble match, it would not signal any invasion angle or a talent agreement between TNA and WWE. The only thing that it will do is remind people that the Four Horsemen are going to be entering into the Hall of Fame.
Rob Van Dam
Another wrestler who is under TNA contract could show up at the Rumble on Sunday night. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Van Dam’s contract is up in March, and RVD could make a return then.
A shocking return for “Mr. Monday Night” at the Rumble would spark a buzz that not only RVD is back with the WWE full time, but that he could be ready for a match at WrestleMania XXVIII.
If the WWE would go this route, it would be the second year that two legends returned after a stint with the competition.
These three wrestlers would send the crowd in St. Louis into a frenzy. Plus, it would spark quite the buzz around what these three people involvement will be at WrestleMania XXVIII.
