According to The Hive, Georgia Tech's Scout.com website, a pivotal game in the ACC will take place again on Labor Day for the 2012 football season, with Georgia Tech traveling to Blacksburg, Va. to battle the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Last year, Miami traveled up to Maryland to face off in a showdown that could hardly be forgotten (remember those awful Maryland uniforms?).
This will mark the first time in the Paul Johnson era at Georgia Tech that the Yellow Jackets will face an FBS opponent to open the season. In previous season openers under Johnson, the Ramblin' Wreck have faced Jacksonville State (twice), South Carolina State (once) and Western Carolina (once).
This matchup looks destined to be a barn-burner. For the past seven years, the winner of this game has gone on to win the Coastal Division in the ACC, so this crucial game will have huge ramifications for the seasons of both schools.
